Prices & Photo Guide
Working from photographs, I specialize in detailed realistic portraits of your fur babies.  I take commissions of most fury friends.
Working in graphite, ink, coloured pencil, and pastel  I produce a detail creation that captures the detail and true reflection of your pet’s appearance and character. I only work with high quality archival materials to ensure your painting will not fade, yellow, or age but stay looking fresh for a lifetime.
Once the photo reference is determined I will reach out with a preliminary sketch, so you can approve the layout before work on the piece begins and then update you as your pet(s) come to life on the paper.
All prices below are for unframed portraits, although framing and mounting is available as an additional option upon request.
A $145 non refundable booking fee is required to secure your commission.  This will cover the expense of materials used to create your custom piece.
I only have a limited number of commission openings per year, and therefore all confirmed commissions will be completed in the order they are received.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or if you would like to book a custom commission of your family pet.

Full Body Portrait
For a full body portrait please add 25% for a single pet.
Additional Pets
Each additional pet will add 25% to the price of a piece. Some sizes are unsuitable for multiple pets due to the lack of detail I would be able to portray.  For three or more pets a consultation will be required.
Backgrounds
I usually prefer to focus on the details in the head and shoulders of your pet, however if you require a background please let me know and I will be happy to offer this.
Shipping
Shipping to anywhere in Canada is $20 for unframed portraits. For anywhere else in the world, please contact me for an individual quote.
Framing
Framing is a very personal choice and should you decide to have your portrait framed, I will work  with you to choose the perfect frame to suit the portrait. I recommend a professional Fine Art framer with knowledge on how to maintain archival quality of the piece.

Photo Guide
An important part of the process to creating your pet portrait is taking the right photo. This guide will explain the best photos to use and what makes a bad photo. Please feel free to email me your photos and I will let you know if they are suitable.
Photo Criteria for Painting
High resolution photo taken with a digital camera with about 5 MB of data (not a social media pic). Low resolution pictures will often display nicely on a phone screen but rarely provide the detail quality needed to create a realistic portrait.  A good quality photo will show hair detail and crisp reflection in the eyes.
Natural Light: Photos taken outside in natural daylight, away from direct sunlight will produce the best references to work from.  Direct sunlight, indoor lighting and flashes can distort colours, obscure detail and produce harsh unnatural shadows and highlights.  I always advise my clients to take photos outdoors on cloudy days, early mornings, or late evening sun are best and make beautiful painting.
Natural Poses:  It is best to use a photo that is taken at the same level as the pet, and from a relatively short distance.  This will produce a more natural looking portrait.
Don't despair, if you are worried about the photo reference please reach out.  The only way to know, is for me to see the reference. To do this, just use the CONTACT page, type in your request, leave your email address, and we can arrange for you to share your photos.   We'll then be able to discuss what can be done.
